A meaningful price comparison starts with the same usable size, construction, finishing, quantity and delivery scope. Use this checklist to expose differences before choosing a supplier.
Compare the scope, not just the unit price.
Cost line
What to ask
Why it matters
Unit packaging
Usable dimensions, material and finishing
Different construction can make unit prices incomparable.
Tooling & setup
Cutting dies, emboss or foil tools, setup fees
One-time and recurring costs should be separated.
Sample
Blank fit sample, printed proof or finished sample
Each route answers different approval questions.
Accessories
Insert, divider, ribbon, tag and liner
A visual reference can show items not included in a quote.
Packing & freight
Flat or assembled, carton size, destination and scope
Volume and handling affect delivered cost.
Small-run decisions
A smaller order does not always reduce the unit cost. Setup and finishing may be spread over fewer pieces. Ask whether a common size, fewer finishes, one artwork version or a stock format with a label would be a useful alternative. Availability must be confirmed; this is a comparison route rather than a stock promise.
Storage and freight
Request the finished packing dimensions, units per carton and gross weight before comparing transport. Flat-packed and assembled formats may create different freight and local assembly costs. Do not treat a presentation box as a tested shipping carton.
PRACTICAL ANSWERS
Questions before you order.
Are your MOQ and lead times fixed?
No fixed MOQ or universal delivery time is promised in this guide. Construction, quantities, material, finishing, sample approval and destination must be reviewed in the project quote.
Can a digital mockup replace a physical sample?
A mockup communicates layout and visual direction. It does not validate load, fit, actual print color, relief depth or transport performance.
Can I approve packaging from these images?
Confirm the actual materials, construction and accessories in the written quote and on the approved sample before production.
